Should you take your child out of school for a holiday?

So many people are eagerly awaiting the time when they can go on holiday again. Over the next few months lockdown restrictions will start to be lifted and holidays within the UK will resume. Because of the high demand for holidays and the additional costs that some holiday providers will have to incur to adhere to social distancing and guidelines, prices for holidays int eh UK have massively increased compared to the previous years. This does mean that for many people they simply may not be able to afford to go away again this year. One way to cut the cost of your holiday is to go outside of school holidays. This can often nearly half the cost of the holiday but it is illegal to take your child out of school for a holiday without a very good reason – and to save money is not classed as a good reason.

With so many pupils missing out on nearly a year of their school education, it would not be a great time to make them miss more time. Teachers are trying to ensure that pupils are able to catch up on what they have missed out without being put under too much pressure, but if they have t miss more time this is going to make the job even more difficult.
